Walking Toward the Light

On May 9, 2026, at 4:15 AM, people around the world gathered for Darkness Into Light — walking together through the darkness and into the sunrise in support of those impacted by suicide and mental health struggles.

There is something deeply meaningful about beginning a walk in silence and darkness, then watching the light slowly return. It reflects something many people experience internally: moments of hopelessness, emotional exhaustion, grief, isolation, or feeling lost — followed, sometimes gradually, by moments of connection, support, and hope.

Events like Darkness Into Light remind us that healing is rarely something we are meant to do alone.

Many people silently carry emotional pain for years. Some feel they have to stay strong at all times. Others struggle to talk about what they are experiencing because they fear being judged, misunderstood, or becoming a burden to others. This is especially true for many men, who are often taught to suppress vulnerability rather than express it.

But support begins with conversation.

A simple check-in, a walk beside someone, or a safe space to speak openly can make a meaningful difference. We do not always need to have the perfect words. Sometimes what matters most is knowing someone is willing to sit with us in the dark until the light begins to return.

At Path to Wholeness Counselling, emotional wellbeing is rooted in connection, self-awareness, honesty, and support. Seeking help is not weakness — it is an act of courage and self-respect.

If you are struggling right now, you do not have to carry everything alone.

And if someone in your life is struggling, your presence may matter more than you realize.

Even the darkest night eventually gives way to morning.
